Do you remember what you were doing in 1996?
It’s the year Nintendo 64 was released, Tickle Me Elmo the most requested gift, and Space Jam — the part Michael Jordan/part-cartoon action movie — opened to rave reviews.
It’s also the year DMA4Families was launched! David Meyer was already working in healthcare, trying to make better and more welcoming spaces for kids and families.
Dave was also keeping his eyes on the fast growing world of video gaming technology and luckily met the founders of Kidzpace in their first year of business. Working with Kidzpace, Dave was able help children find an easy way to smile during a stressful hospital stay.
A year later, after a referral from an architect, Dave connected with TMC and was able to add furniture to supplement the game systems in many healthcare settings.
BoMar came years later but has great potential to provide some large scale color and fun for kids in a hospital.
DMA4Families is celebrating more than two decades in business, and Dave says he often thinks about how fortunate he has been to be able to work with quality-minded manufacturers committed to creating welcoming spaces featuring wonderful entertainment options. “Offering innovative products to healthcare facilities is what we do,” Dave says. “The manufacturers we represent continually demonstrate a huge commitment to innovation as well as incredible customer service. Together, we all understand that what we do has a real impact on people visiting hospitals and clinics.”
DMA4Families proudly collaborates with:
Kidzpace Interactive provides games to occupy and entertain children and their families at healthcare facilities around the country. Touch screen and traditional video games offer exciting options for people of all ages.
TMC Furniture designs unique furniture which offers comfort and warmth, adding beautifully-crafted pieces to the healthcare environment. The furniture has a full-line of options for use by both children and adults.
BoMar Soft Playgrounds is a more recent addition to entertainment options in healthcare. It creates soft play sculptures for children to climb on, sit on and just play.
The soft playgrounds are constructed with a durable, cutting-edge process and are designed to attract kids of all ages.
Continuing to collaborate also pays off, when it comes to response from loyal customers. “Over the years, we’ve heard phrases and comments repeatedly related to parents feeling better when they see their kids smile, or that we were able to help make a new waiting area a success,” Dave says. “We’ve even heard from fundraisers who call our products the best thing they’ve ever raised money for, and that we are a pleasure to deal with.”
And after more than 20 years, Dave admits he still strives for the same outcome he hoped for back in 1996, and says, “It’s extra-rewarding knowing that what we provide is helping to make a difference in someone’s day while they are at a hospital or clinic.”
